Parliament’s Budget Session 2022 Starts From Today, First Part To Extend Till Feb 11

New Delhi: The Union Budget Session 2022 is set to commence from Monday and conclude on April 8. The first part of the session is scheduled to extend till February 11, the Lok Sabha Secretariat said on Sunday.

As per the Secretariate, the Economic Survey 2021-22 will be laid by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on January 31 after the President’s address at 11am and the Budget will be presented by her on February 1.

“There will be a break from February 12 to March 13 during which the Standing Committee will examine Demands-for Grants of Ministries/Departments and prepare reports thereon. In all, there will be 29 sittings; 10 in the first part and 19 in the second part,” the press release of the Lok Sabha Secretariat said, as quoted by news agency ANI.

“Half-an-hour after President’s Address, the Lok Sabha will sit for transaction of business,” the press release further added.

According to the Secretariate, there will be two major business items in the first part of the budget session – a discussion on the Motion of Thanks on the President’s Address and a general discussion on the budget.

Forty hours of general time will be available for questions, Private Members’ business, discussion on Motion of Thanks, General discussion on Union Budget during the first part of the Budget Session.

Meanwhile, in the light of the Covid pandemic, elaborate arrangements have been made at the Lok Sabha chamber and the Parliament House Complex, the press release said.

Other arrangements of Covid vaccine and testing have been made for the Members of Parliament and visitors in the complex.
