Suspended Mumbai Police officer Sachin Waze
Mumbai: In a startling claim, suspended Mumbai Police officer Sachin Waze said that former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh threatened to kill his family members. In an affidavit, Waze claimed that Deshmukh got fake cases of extortion registered against him and former Mumbai Police commissioner Param Bir Singh.
Anil Deshmukh and Waze today appeared before Justice (retd) K U Chandiwal Commission. In an affidavit, Waze also said that said he extorted money from bars on Deshmukh’s instructions.
Waze, in the affidavit, claimed on Deshmukh’s orders, he had paid money to his aides. “Upon my arrest by the crime branch, Mumbai, I was under tremendous pressure and thus, I conceded to the entire 15 days of police custody. I have been always subjected to severe mental torture and harassment apparently by the then home minister Anil Deshmukh,” the former policemen said.
Earlier Waze, during his deposition before the Chandiwal Commission, had denied making any payment to Deshmukh or any of his staff members.
The ex-Mumbai Police chief had earlier claimed that Anil Deshmukh had asked Vaze to ‘collect’ Rs 100 crore per month from bars and hookah parlours. The Maharashtra government had formed the Justice KU Chandiwal Committee to investigate Param Bir Singh’s allegations against the former Maharashtra home minister and NCP leader.
Deshmukh had categorically rejected Singh’s allegations against him, saying that the ex-Mumbai top cop was making accusations to save himself from action in the Antilia bomb scare case and Mansukh Hiran death case.
Deshmukh is in the custody of the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
The ED in its supplementary charge sheet filed against the former Maharashtra home minister in 100 crore PMLA case, has alleged that Deshmukh used to prepare a list of his choice of police officials for transfer and postings.
The ED has also named Deshukh’s two sons Hrishikesh and Salil in its chargesheet.
Param Bir Singh had alleged that Deshmukh used to meet him at Sahyadri Guest House where he was given a list of officials for transfer and posting.
Notably, Vaze was reinstated into Mumbai Police after the suspension of 16 years and reports had stated that Deshmukh reportedly played an important vital role in his rejoining.
Singh made the allegations against Deshmukh after he was transferred as Commandant-General of Maharashtra State Home Guards by the Maharashtra government after the Antila bomb scare and Thane businessman Mansukh Hiran’s death cases.
